Wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin (son of “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin) issued a public apology after he forgot to pay for a meal at a Coffs Harbour restaurant. In a candid Instagram video to his 7.6 million followers, the 21‑year‑old explained that he had stopped at the Jetty Pavilion café while road‑tripping on Australia’s east coast. According to Irwin, after placing his takeout order he was swamped by fans asking for selfies. He posed for photos with everyone, grabbed his food and unknowingly left without settling the bill. Only the next morning did he “wake up and realise, ‘I never paid for my salad!’. Horrified at his mistake, Irwin immediately contacted the restaurant the next day to offer payment, but staff graciously replied, “Don’t worry, just leave us a good review”. Irwin laughed off the incident, joking “Today is not the day I start my life of crime,” and urged his followers to support the café and give it good publicity. He even promised to return in person with payment to make things right.

Irwin apologized publicly, acknowledging the mix-up and promoting the small business. He quipped, “Today is not the day I start my life of crime” and encouraged fans to visit the café.

The Jetty Pavilion owners reacted positively: they had “no hard feelings” and said Irwin’s video gave them “money-can’t-buy exposure” for their business. They even thanked him online and joked about naming a salad after him.
